BroadBand Light Laser at Med Spa of Flower Mound
From Katherine Roy, RN-BSN, FNP student

As a nurse injector at Med Spa of Flower Mound, one of the treatments I absolutely love recommending to my patients is BBL (BroadBand Light). If you are looking for brighter, more even, healthier-looking skin without significant downtime, BBL is one of my favorite treatments to incorporate into a personalized skincare plan.
So, What Exactly Is BBL?
BBL uses carefully selected wavelengths of light to target some of the most common signs of sun damage and skin aging. Unlike a traditional laser that uses one specific wavelength, BBL uses a broad spectrum of light that can be customized to target concerns such as sun spots, uneven pigmentation, redness, visible blood vessels, and overall skin tone and texture.
Who Is a Good Candidate?
BBL can be a great option for patients who are bothered by sun damage, brown spots, redness, uneven skin tone, or a dull complexion. It can also be incorporated into a broader aesthetic treatment plan depending on your individual skin concerns.
As with any energy-based treatment, the most important step is determining whether BBL is appropriate for your specific skin type, skin condition, medications, and goals. A consultation allows us to customize your treatment and discuss what results you can realistically expect.
More Than Just a “Glow”
What makes BBL especially exciting to me is that we aren’t simply trying to make your skin look better temporarily. BBL works by delivering controlled light energy to targeted areas of the skin, allowing your body to naturally clear the treated pigment and damaged cells while encouraging the skin’s renewal process.
Research has also explored changes in gene expression associated with a more youthful pattern of skin following BBL treatment, adding to our understanding of why patients can see improvements in the overall appearance of photodamaged skin.
